Shelly’s Picks:

Wild Beauty by Anna-Marie McLemore: Anna-Marie McLemore is one of my favourite authors of all time, so obviously her latest release would make my list for the best books of the year. This one didn’t disappoint at all.

White Rabbit by Caleb Roehrig: It’s cruel of me to put a 2018 book on my best of 2017 books but LISTEN I CAN’T STOP THINKING ABOUT THIS BOOK. I read it in 2017 so I think it counts.

Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds: I love novels in verse and Reynolds doesn’t disappoint. This one will stay with you long after you read it.

Hamilton’s Battalion: A Trio of Romances by Courtney Milan, Alyssa Cole, Rose Lerner: I adored this one. I’m not usually a historical fiction reader but I loved this collection of romances.

Dear Martin by Nic Stone: The voice in this novel is strong, the writing grips you and you will definitely cry in public. It’s a stellar combination that makes for a powerful debut novel.

Angie’s Picks:

Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones: This Labyrinth retelling was everything I could have dreamed of with gorgeous, lush writing and characters that made my heart sing.

Done Dirt Cheap by Sarah Nicole Lemon: This story is all about fierce young women taking ownership of themselves and the world around them and ugh my heart it was just so damn good.

The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas: There is literally no aspect of this book that isn’t flawless and if you haven’t read it yet DO SO IMMEDIATELY

The Girl with the Red Balloon by Katherine Locke: Gorgeous writing and characterization, fascinating plot oh and it’ll rip your heart out.

The Tiger’s Daughter by K. Arsenault Rivera: Easily my favorite book of the year. Probably my favorite book of all-time at this point. The writing and story are magnificent and the characters will steal your heart and SUCH SHIP OTP GOALS
