I received a copy of these comics for review. This does not influence my thoughts on these volumes or this review.

Batwoman Vol.1 : The Many Arms of Death (Rebirth)

Batwoman vol. 1: The Many Arms of Death (Rebirth) written by Marguerite Bennett, James Tynion IV and illustrated by Steve Epting and Ben Oliver.

Batwoman returns with her own series in BATWOMAN VOL. 1, as a part of DC Rebirth!

The newest chapter of Batwoman’s life begins here! Monster Venom is the hottest new bioweapon on the market…and to break up the syndicate spreading it around the world, Batwoman’s going to have to return to the place where she spent some of her darkest hours!

With writing from Marguerite Bennett (DC BOMBSHELLS) and James Tynion IV (DETECTIVE COMICS), as well as spectacular art from Steve Epting (CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER) and Ben Oliver (THE MULTIVERSITY), this new series spins directly out of the smash hit DETECTIVE COMICS series!

BATWOMAN VOL. 1 collects issues #1-6 and the one-shot special BATWOMAN: REBIRTH #1.

My thoughts:  Batwoman is one of my favourite superheroes and this new ongoing series is just perfect. I’ve loved Margueritte Bennett’s previous works so I’m so thrilled that their wonderful work continues with this one. If you’re not typically into graphic novels, I still think that this is one that you should definitely pick up, especially if you’re not familiar with Batwoman’s compelling story already.

Batman: Detective Comics, Vol. 3: League of Shadows

Batman Detective Comics vol. 3: League of Shadows, written by James Tynion IV and illustrated by Eddy Barrows and Alvaro Martinez.

Batman’s team of vigilantes continues to protect Gotham City in the next volume of the best-selling series, BATMAN: DETECTIVE COMICS VOL. 3: LEAGUE OF SHADOWS!

The next big DETECTIVE arc explodes here as the League of Shadows goes from mysterious rumor to deadly fact! With two new members of the team, Azrael and Batwing, will the Dark Knight’s squadron of crime-fighters be able to discover the League’s plan? And what deadly personal seceret will be unleashed on the team?

From writer James Tynion IV (BATMAN/TMNT) and the spectacular art team of Eddy Barrows (NIGHTWING) and Alvaro Martinez (BATMAN ETERNAL) comes the third volume of the return of DETECTIVE COMICS! Collects DETECTIVE COMICS #950-956.

My Thoughts:  This series continues to be one of my favourites as part of DC’s Rebirth. I loved the focus on Cassandra Cain/Orphan in this story arc and she’s definitely one of my new favourite heroes. I’m hoping that the series continues to be as great as it’s been going so far. If you’re a fan of Batman or any of the batfamily heroes (like Batwoman!), I highly recommend picking up this intense but amazing series.
