Graphic Novels Galore (2)

I started Graphic Novels Galore a long time ago, but I decided to bring it back for the Read.Sleep.Repeat. mega return! Octavia has supported my graphic novel addiction and I firmly believe that graphic novels/comics count as “real books” so I decided to reboot one of my favourite regular features. Click on the cover images for a GoodReads link.

Wonder Woman, Volume 1: The LiesFirst up, I want to talk about Wonder Woman vol. 1: The Lies. While I was skeptical about DC’s Rebirth series, I think this volume compilation works really well and I really enjoyed it. I’m really looking forward to the next few volumes.

Southern Bastards, Vol. 1: Here Was a ManI also started reading Southern Bastards and it was great. I’m a huge fan of Image Comics and their wide variety of comics, and I knew that I would enjoy this one. It’s not fantasy and it’s a little intense, but I find that with graphic novels, my tastes aren’t as narrow as with books.

Star Wars: Lost Tribe of the Sith - SpiralI also read Star Wars: Lost Tribe of the Sith- Spiral and it was so fascinating. I don’t much about the Star Wars universe outside of the movie canon and I figured that reading some more about the world through the graphic novels would be awesome. And I wasn’t wrong! This self-contained story was interesting and definitely page-turning. I’ll probably check out more of the Star Wars comics soon.

AfarI also picked up Afar from Edelweiss, and it was such a good read! I’ve wanted to read it since I saw Image Comics’ announcement about the series last year, and it did not disappoint. It totally fits within the YA genre and the story is not only fascinating, but so well drawn. The series follows a 15 year old girl, Boetema who develops the ability to travel to far away worlds in her sleep. It’s wonderful, I highly recommend it.

What comic books have you read recently? Anything I should check out? Want to see more of my graphic novels reviews? Let’s chat in the comments!
