Baby It’s Cold Outside: Day 1 – Intro Post

Posted December 17, 2016 by Angie in Features & Spotlights / 4 Comments

HELLLLLLLLLLLO and welcome to the first day of the Baby It’s Cold Outside Read-a-Thon. We are SO EXCITED for a week of binge reading and (hopefully) hiding from the terrible winter weather! We’re so excited to have you join us – and if you haven’t signed up yet, it’s definitely not too late. Just check out the sign-up post and add your linky 🙂

Join us tonight for the introductory Twitter chat tonight, where we’ll talk books and other stuff. I’ve totally got questions prepared. Absolutely. That’ll be happening from 8 p.m. – 9 p.m. EST! We’ll be picking a random participant to win a book of their choice from The Book Depository up to $15 CAD.

And don’t forget to participate in tomorrow’s challenges: Teaser Tidbits and the Page 99 Test.

Teaser Tidbits Instructions:

-Grab the book you’re currently reading (or recently read)
-Open to a random page
-Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page NO spoilers allowed! Choose passages void of spoilers. The goal is to entice, yet not ruin the book for others!
-Share the title & author, so that other participants can add the book to their TBR lists if they like your teasers!

Page 99 Test Instructions:

Pick a book you haven’t read, turn to page 99 and read that page. Then give a synopsis of that page and tell us if, based only on that page, do you still want to read this book?

Participants in these challenges will entered to win a brand new hardcover of Heartless by Melissa Meyer (U.S. Only)

Plus every time you participate in a challenge (and the Twitter chat) or get a bingo on the bingo card you’ll receive an entry into the grand prize – a $50 gift card to Book Outlet!

Now that we’ve got all the official stuff out of the way, let’s talk read-a-thon goals.

Angie’s Goals: I will already be failing the first two days between moving and working, but after that it is on. My goal is to read through at least half of this stack of library books that I have sitting at work. Isn’t it beautiful. A lot of backlist and 2016 releases I never quite got around too.

Shelly’s Goals: I’m going to be working on finishing up some books I didn’t get to this year, and hopefully managing to tackle my library books (which are sitting at 37 books opps).

Octavia’s Goals: I AM SO FREAKING EXCITED FOR THIS! I want to take the read-a-thon and use it to re-read some of my faves. I don’t think I’ll make it through a ton since I AM GOING TO SEE SHELLY NEXT WEEK!!!! And I don’t know what books I plan on rereading (I’m a mood reader *insert eye roll*) but I want to get through at least 4!
