Marketing manager Katherine "Kitty" Katt had just finished a day on jury duty. When she stepped out of the Pueblo Caliente courthouse, all she was thinking about was the work she had to get caught up on. Then her attention was caught by a fight between a couple that looked like it was about to turn ugly. But ugly didn't even begin to cover it when the "man" suddenly transformed into a huge, winged monster right out of a grade Z science fiction movie and went on a deadly killing spree. In hindsight, Kitty realized she probably should have panicked and run screaming the way everyone around her was doing. Instead she sprinted into action to take down the alien.

In the middle of all the screeching and the ensuing chaos, a hunk in an Armani suit suddenly appeared beside her, introduced himself as Jeff Martini with "the agency," and then insisted on leading her to a nearby limo to talk to his "boss." And that was how Kitty's new life among the aliens began...Touched by an Alien is the thrilling first installment of the Alien novels.

I loved it. I loved every single part. From the characters, to the plot, to the action, to the steamy scenes, to the twist and turns. I just LOVED it.

I wrote that at 2am, right after I finished Touched By An Alien. Not exactly my most detailed or eloquent review, but it’s the raw unfiltered truth.

Honestly with a title like Touched By An Alien you’d think this would be the cheesiest most cliche riddled book of all times. Something straight off a bad 1950’s alien movie. But it wasn’t! This book was HILARIOUS from the first page and never slowed down with it’s sarcasm, humor, or lovable characters.

It starts exactly as the synopsis says. Katherine, Kitty for the rest of my review, just got out of jury duty when a man involved in a minor fender bender turns into a winged evil thingy that goes on a killing spree. Kitty, acting on pure instinct improvises and kills his ass.

Badass shit

But it wasn’t the type of action scene where her mind clicks and she unlocks some weird super human trait. I think this is what I liked most about this book. Even though there are aliens and action never do you see the humans do some off the wall unbelievable things. Kitty used good old common sense and ingenuity to fight off the bad guys, and she did it with a level of snark that spoke to my soul. Kitty was honestly the character I dream about experiencing in books! She was smart, but not unbelievably so. She was firm and inquisitive, but not to a point where she did something stupid in the name of “finding out more”. She was HILARIOUS (how many times can I use that word!?) and when things got a little heavy she still managed to crack a joke.

But Kitty wasn’t my only character love affair. Martini (gorgeous alien secret agent and empath) was adorable! He was cocky but not like “I know I’m the bomb . com all women lay at my feet” kind of cocky. But he was also just a tiny bit insecure which just brought out the right amount of humility. Then there’s Martini’s cousin Christopher, whom I didn’t love immediately but after a while he grew on me. Another reason I loved this book so much was how Kitty handled Christopher. He was a grade A asshat to her but she never let it fly. She gave it as much as she got it and I respect her for not taking any of his shit.

You Go Girl

I don’t know what else to tell you without adding spoilers. Obviously there were bad guy aliens, and obviously things happened. And I mentioned steamy scenes (well done by the way). I’ve reserved the rest of the series on OverDrive and I can not wait until I can keep going!
