Ketterdam: a bustling hub of international trade where anything can be had for the right price—and no one knows that better than criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker. Kaz is offered a chance at a deadly heist that could make him rich beyond his wildest dreams. But he can't pull it off alone...

A convict with a thirst for revenge.

A sharpshooter who can't walk away from a wager.

A runaway with a privileged past.

A spy known as the Wraith.

A Heartrender using her magic to survive the slums.

A thief with a gift for unlikely escapes.

Six dangerous outcasts. One impossible heist. Kaz's crew is the only thing that might stand between the world and destruction—if they don't kill each other first.

I received a copy of this book for review from the publisher, this does not influence my review or my opinion on the book.

The Shadow and Bone Trilogy was a bit iffy for me. I loved the first book, felt disappointed with the second, and enjoyed the last one. I loved the world building, however, so I was excited to see how the Grishaverse world continues. I actually really enjoyed Six of Crows and it definitely wasn’t a disappointment.

Kaz Bekker is somewhat of a leader in The Dregs, a ruthless and quite successful gang. He’s not afraid to get his hands dirty and his street name Dirtyhands has a ruthless reputation. When he has the opportunity for one of the most rewardable and most dangerous heists, he decides to assemble his crew. Made up of a Wraith, an overactive kid with a secret, a runaway kid, a Fjerdan and a Grisha, the crew is assembles to carry out this dangerous mission. Along the way, they may discover what they’re really fighting for and if the money is the only reward they seek.

I want to launch into Super Critical Reviewer Mode but damn, THIS BOOK. I loved all the characters. They are all totally unique and awesome and gahhhh I want to meet them and hug them and possibly run away from them (they are pretty deadly). I think my favourite thing about Six of Crows would have to be the shipping feels. I mean, Kaz and Inej (The Wraith mentioned above) had so much untapped feelings like geez, KISS ALREADY. And of course, Matthias and Nina were pretty adorable. Their rocky past created both intense revenge tension and intense shippy tension. I can totally see the potential for other ships as well and I LOVE IT. I know it’s supposed to be super intense and heisty but c’mon, I have to admire the amount of feels!

The plot was pretty solid but a bit slow at times, and I felt that there was tons of narration where I prefer dialogue, but that’s a personal preference. I liked the world-building but I will admit that my knowledge of the Grishaverse has simmered down considerably and I’m sure that some of the references went over my head. Regardless, I still enjoyed Six of Crows immensely.

Overall, Six of Crows was awesome and I really enjoyed it. I need the sequel in my hands like NOW. I definitely recommend it for fans of Shadow and Bone or even people who were a bit disappointed by the ending of it since this is a brand  new and awesome series!

  1. I absolutely ADOOOORED Six of Crows!! I loved all the different POVs and the heist and the assembly of the crew and damn the tank part!! But given how lil romance there really was, the book gave me so many shippy feels!!!

  2. Oooh nice! I can’t wait to read this one as well! I remember liking the Grisha trilogy as well. Though I binge read it, so all the separate book feels are muddled together. Overall, I liked it. Not LOVED, but really liked it! LOL! Glad to see that this one was enjoyable, maybe even more so than the original! Cannot wait to read it! Great review!
