New to the shelf: LGBT Books

April 18, 2015 Random Ramblings 9

I’ve been on a mission to read more LGBTQIA+ books and I have compiled what I consider an extensive list. To my knowledge, a lot of these revolve around a lesbian or a gay main character so if you know books that feature characters with different sexualities, please please please give me the title below! Also, most of these are contemporary books (which I do love) but if you know any fantasy/sci-fi books featuring an LGBT character, please leave me the suggestions! *GR links at the bottom*

    There are quite a few on this list that are not on mine, so I must investigate!

    And may I also suggest (if you haven’t read them, of course):
    Freakboy by Kristin Elizabeth Clark {trans}
    Luna by Julie Anne Peters {trans}
    Bleeding Earth by Kaitlin Ward {lesbian, also Sci-Fi/Horror}
    Far From You by Tess Sharpe {bisexual}
    One Man Guy by Michael Barakiva {gay, and also the cutest book EVER!!!}
    Adaption by Malinda Lo {bisexual, ALIENS!!!}

      I already read Freakboy, Far From You and One Man Guy and I loved them all!! One Man Guy is so cute, and Freakboy is amazing and Far From You is intense! I’ll write down the other suggestions, thanks! 🙂

    One fantasy that I know of that features a bisexual (I THINK) main character is Otherbound. I haven’t read it or anything, but one MC is in an f/f relationship and the other mc is a MoC with a disability, so lots of diversity all around!

      I read Otherbound and I loved the diversity but I’m not a huge major fantasy fan and I found the plot a bit slow. But other than that, it’s a great book! 😛

    The Lynburn Legacy has two great lesbian characters. Neither one is the MC, but they do get quite a lot of page time! The series is really addictive, so I recommend reading it, anyways. 🙂

    I listened to an audiobook of Lies My Girlfriend Told Me and it was pretty interesting. I think I gave it 3 stars because I had a few overall issues with it (especially the audio narrator). I appreciated the LGBT aspect so much though!
