New Year’s Day holds a special place in my heart. If you weren’t aware, I actually don’t celebrate Christmas, instead we celebrate New Years. My parents come from the USSR and for them, New Years meant setting up a tree and getting presents in the morning. We still keep this tradition, and when people ask me about it, I call it ‘Communist Christmas’ because that’s what it really is.

So not only is New Year’s a day to start fresh, it’s a day to get presents, at least for me! This year we didn’t get to set up a tree because of our vacation but still, I love the holiday.

So whether you celebrate New Years or not, may your New Year be even better than this one, and may you have a year filled with love and friendship!

Happy New Year!

  1. Happy new year to you too, Octavia. I see no button for linking individual reviews and recall that you merely requested an update to our page. Here it is. The later half of the year was difficult for us (the young, unexpected passing of one of our cherished kitties). So although I love acing challenges, I am very pleased to have finished 8 series at your Gold Level; in hopes of winning an Amazon *Canada* gift certificate. It is very generous and I can’t wait to see how it pans out! http://cmriedel.wordpress.com/2014/01/10/prequel-sequel-series-bingo/ Also by all means, I welcome you and your circle to my three groups, which resume in February. 🙂 Sincerely, Carolyn.
