One kiss could be the last.

Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she's anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses.

Raised among the Wardens—a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe—Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she's crushed on since forever.

Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she's not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn't an issue, considering Roth has no soul.

But when Layla discovers she's the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne…it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.

Book Feels

This is me…even though I finished White Hot Kiss DAYS ago….even though I have Stone Cold Touch on hold at the library (THE ONLY HOLD!)…even though I know if I ask very nicely I can get an ARC of book 3. This is me. And I blame Crystal for the feels overload I am going through right now. DAMN YOU CRYSTAL! DAMN YOU TO BACON HELL!!

Isn't Fair

Ummm sorry you had to see that. Really sorry. O__O Any way! White Hot Kiss was never on my radar. Yeah I like JLA as much as the next reader but something about “gargoyles” in the blurb just turned me away. I had heard Crystal say she liked it but to be honest it went in one ear and out the other which is horrible because this is CRYSTAL we’re talking about! She would never steer me wrong. But any who, WHK was sitting on a shelf at the library looking extremely lonely so I grabbed it, shrugged and tossed it on my ever-growing library TBR pile. Then I opened it one night and dagnabit

Mind Blown Bill Nye

I honestly finished it feeling really stupid for passing up on those extra copies at BEA! WHAT WAS WRONG WITH PAST OCTAVIA?! Obviously she was crazy for not seeing the gem in front of her. Bad past Octavia. BAD!

The story opens up with Layla, or half gargoyle (Warden) half demon MC. I want to take a sec and say how much I LOVED Layla. I loved all the characters honestly, but lately I’ve been finding it harder and harder to like the female lead in stories. Layla was smart, resourceful, brave, level-headed and kick ass. I loved how she didn’t run from a fight but she also wasn’t out starting them by obliviously following some “guy” into some place because she wanted to know something. Any-who Layla is out doing her normal demon hunting job when things get odd. Well odd for your everyday half demon half Warden, demon hunter.  In just a few quick sentences everything in Layla’s life is turned upside down and we are strapped in for one hell of a ride. The pace in WHK was set perfectly but it never slowed down! One thing after another happened but it flowed so well all I could do was enjoy the ride while gripping the book so tightly my finger prints are permanently imprinted on my library copy. Which means WHK has an awesome plot, a kickass awesome MC and the perfect pace to keep you on the edge of our seats. Hmm I feel like I’m missing something. What could it be?

ROTH!!

Roth. Roth. Roth. Sweet baby Jesus ROTH! I have many book boyfriends and husbands. So many I honestly can’t keep them straight. But Roth is more so the book “boyfriend” I’d greet and immediately go…

Bedroom's this way

He sauntered on the page and I was a goner! Layla is smarter than I and took a little time to be won over but I was READY for this Roth take over. I don’t want to creep you guys out too much but Roth, even though a fictional character, had my full and undivided attention. I mean from the way he talked, carried himself, even his small acts of “kindness”. I just LOVED him so much as a character and UGH!

I Am Aroused

He even had this speech of “I’m a demon. I’m nothing” and I went all Edward creepy on his ass!

Edward You're Perfect

Umm…sorry…again. O____O Pretty sure nothing I say now can be taken seriously so I’m just going to say go grab a copy and slink off into the shadows to think about Roth some more pretend this didn’t happen.
