Never ask about the past.
Don’t expect a future.

When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she knows it isn’t love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her. They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all.

Hearts get infiltrated.
Promises get broken.
Rules get shattered.
Love gets ugly

Ugly Love had me dying from laughter from the very start. I couldn’t stop laughing and tweeting then tweeting and laughing! I’m sure some of you are re-reading the blurb to see if you missed the part of this book being a comedy. To answer your question, no you didn’t miss it. Ugly Love was meant to be this deep and gritty store of love and lost. I personally just didn’t see it for that till closer to the end; and even then I wasn’t completely convinced.

The story starts with Tate moving in with her pilot brother in San Francisco. Nothing exciting there right? Right. Well that was until Tate made it to her brothers door and there is some random drunk guy there and her brother (who is at work flying planes) tells her it’s ok to let him in. Now I love my brother but if he told me to let some random drunk guy, no matter how scorchingly hot, into an apartment with me while he was out of town I would have laughed at him, hung up then turned around while yelling nope.

Stranger Danger

But as I’m sure you may have guess Tate doesn’t have the same way of thinking as you or I. But moving on! Turns out super hot random drunk guy (Miles) lives in the apartment across the hall and is a friend and co-worker to Tate’s brother. Miles has issues. Like serious issues that would normally make one run for the hills but again Tate isn’t as logical as you or I. Here are some of the passages I shared on twitter…be prepared for massive eye rolling and laughing.

Mistake number 1. What’s that saying about falling in love with a mans potential? Oh that’s right! DON’T!!

The amount of stupid in this quote requires a gif!

Smoky Face Palm

Don’t get me wrong, there were plenty of stupid but some of the quotes actually hit me right in the feels.

If that ain’t the truth! Too bad these moments of light were almost immediately followed by something like this:

Anyway I bet now you’re wonder why, if the book was so horrendous, did I give it 3 stars. To put it simply I recognize the book for what it was meant to be. Not earth shattering or life changing but an entertaining read with throw away characters, a predictable plot, decent sex scenes and occasional moments of grit. I can’t say go out and buy a copy now but if you just so  happen to see it at the library I say grab it. Shit you may even like it.
