Happy Sunday guys!  Today’s Stop & Chat is one I’ve been mulling over for a few days and I’m actually extremely nervous/excited to discuss it with you all. Today I want to make a confession. One that is going to get me yelled at by many of my friends, and comments that I’m sure will basically scream “I DON’T EVEN KNOW YOU ANYMORE”.

Book Nerd Shame: I haven’t read that yet!

Now, be gentle with me ok? I know a ton of these are a MUST read but it just hasn’t happened ok?! OK?!

Cinder HRDefianceIncarnate

I’ve checked these beauties out from the library a total of 3 times. THREE! One of those times I even manage to read a few chapters in Incarnate and Cinder! But for whatever reason I just put it to the side and never went back. Like the other books on this list  I really want to go back to these 3! In fact I own Defiance in e-book format so I have no idea what my problem is. O__O

TwilightNew MoonEclipse

I’m going to pause for a moment while you realize what’s really wrong with this set……no take you’re time! I’ll just be over here waiting in shame for your “OH MY GOSH OCTAVIA! HOW COULD YOU?!” moment. *plays Jeopardy music* That’s right. I’ve read Breaking Dawn. There is nothing I can say to make this better so I’m just going to move on.

Crown of Midnight HBHeir of FireSIege and Storm2Ruin and Rising

Want to know what’s really twisted about these? Besides the fact I’ve read both of book one and LOVED them? I OWN THESE! I’ve had Heir of Fire since freaking MAY! Siege and Storm since it’s release (and it’s SIGNED!) And I have a e-copy of Crow of Midnight. I picked up Ruin and Rising on its release day for crying out loud! But I’m just not ready! I’m not read for the end of Alina’s journey! I’m not ready for the Celaena feels! I AM NOT READY DAMMIT!

Aristotle and Dante Discover the secrets of the universeIf I StayAnna and the French Kiss

I am not a fan of contemporary. I just can’t get with the thought process involved you know? But even I can be tempted when every single one of my book nerd friends are in love with particular books. Shelly is going to kill me for Aristotle and Dante and I’m pretty sure Angie and Nikki are going to disown my for Anna, but bigger than that, everyone is going to yell at me when I say I have never read a Gayle Forman book.

Catching FireMockingjay

Let the screams of outrage BEGIN! I do not own these. I have not checked them out from the library. I haven’t seen movie 2 and don’t have tickets for movie 3.1.  In fact I really only want to finish the series out of curiosity. I really liked book 1 but I’m no die-hard fan.

Everneath HRSweet Evil HRLandlineFangirl

I own these. I’ve owned Everneath and Sweet Evil for almost 2 years now, Landline and Fangirl I’ve had since May (AND THEY’RE SIGNED!) but haven’t picked them up. I know why I haven’t picked up Landline & Fangirl yet. I’m not ready for the havoc Rowell will let loose on my emotions but I have no idea why I haven’t read Everneath or Sweet Evil yet…..I have to stop buying books and not reading them. Bwahaha I almost typed that with a straight face!

Anyway, so what about you? What are some insanely popular books you haven’t read but would like to. And as always feel free to yell at my about my picks above, I deserve it on most of them and to be honest maybe it’ll give me a much needed push. 😉

  1. Cinder!!! I LOVE that series. So much. And my love for it grows with every book. It makes me happy that you want to go back to reading it.
There are SEVERAL books on this list that I haven’t read yet either. And of those, some that I also even own but haven’t read yet.
I read Throne of Glass several months ago. Then bought Crown of Midnight, pre-ordered Heir of Fire and also bought Assassin’s Blade (the book of novellas) but I haven’t read any of them yet. I do hope to get them read this month though.
I have read The Grisha trilogy and really enjoyed it.
Of the next set of books, I read Anna and the French Kiss this year. Like in August, I think. (Then I read Lola and Isla.) And I haven’t read those other two books, although I do want to read If I Stay. I haven’t read a Gayle Forman book yet either. But I want to.
I like the Hunger Game trilogy, but I understand that not everyone likes the books as much as I do.
And as for your last set of books, I have only read Landline. (I really enjoyed it) and I have Fangirl…really need to read it.

There are so many popular books that I haven’t read yet. Like the Something Strange and Deadly trilogy by Susan Dennard (I really need to get these books). And I haven’t read a single John Green book yet. Though I did just buy The Fault in Our Stars and checked about An Abundance of Kathrines from the library.

I think we all probably have popular books that have slipped by us. There are constantly new popular books to read and so hard to keep up with them and read them all.
I love this post! Thanks for sharing. (It does make me feel better about all the popular books I haven’t read yet. lol.)
    Great post!

  2. I haven’t read a TON of those either. I was really late to the Rainbow Rowell bandwagon, and still have only read Fangirl. I haven’t even thought about reading Twilight — not because I’m anti-vampire, but I just think its time has passed and I would rather read other things now. I recently got Throne of Glass and that one I am SOOO excited to start. The Lunar Chronicles books are wonderful and I’d definitely recommend them! 🙂 Also you MUST finish the Grisha trilogy — they just keep getting better!!

  4. I haven’t read If I Stay and Fangirl either . . . I have both, but I just haven’t been able to fit them in yet.

There are quite a few others I haven’t gotten to yet: Brandon Sanderson’s books, Victoria Schwab’s books, Lies of Lock Lamora, many of Nikki’s other favorites, The Selection, Origin + Opposition, Splintered, Dark Triumph. I still have to catch up/finish the Newsoul, Grisha, and Lunar Chronicles series. Cress won a poll I had last month, so I’ll be reading that one this month. 🙂

By the way, CROWN OF MIDNIGHT IS AMAZING AND YOU NEED TO GET TO IT SOON. That one is tied with Faking Normal as my favorite book of the entire year. Yes, there are a ton of feels, but you just need to suck it up and read it already. (I shouldn’t be saying this, seeing as how I haven’t finished many series because I’m not ready. This is why I still haven’t read Ruin and Rising and Allegiant.)

  5. Don’t worry, I haven’t read most of these either! I did really love Fangirl, but haven’t had a chance to read anything else by her yet. I’m jealous you have signed copies though! A lot of these are on my TBR list, but I don’t own most. I’ll hopefully get around to them eventually, but there’s just so many books and so little time!

  6. I was right there with you, wallowing in shame, until I saw Catching Fire and Mockingjay! I am kind of obsessed. Consider me a die-hard! I have also finished the Grisha series and really liked it. BUT- other than that, I am right there with you. And like you, I own most of these! Ugh. I think we just need more time. Like, ALL the time just to sit around and read. I also get regularly scheduled flack for not having read Daughter of Smoke and Bone yet (also sitting on my bookcase!), and I WANT to read it, I just don’t have the time 🙁 OH- and I have only read the first Harry Potter. Because (and now I wait for things to be flung at me) I didn’t like it. I love this post, it makes me feel like I am not the only one who is missing out still 😉

  7. I am so hilariously behind on hopping the hype trains for so many series and standalone books! It’s just, there is SO MANY and then you have to wait for the sequels and then you start reading other books and forget to keep going with the series. And then there are the ones that you’re scared to read because you have so many high expectations placed on them and you don’t want to be disappointed. There are so many on this list I haven’t read yet. Throne of Glass, Fangirl, finish The Grisha series. And it’s like, I know that I have to read them and I’m GOING to read them and that I’ve been promising my friends that I’ll read them, so why haven’t I read them yet?! (Did that just make any sense?) The answer to this eludes me. But yeah, I feel this too. It’s a never-ending, vicious cycle. Authors just need to slow down so I can catch up on everything. 🙂

  8. I’m actually gonna blow your mind and NOT disown you over ANNA. I know, I know, it’s like sacrilege, but… I know you’re not always a fan of contemporaries, and ANNA isn’t perfect (*gasp!* *BOOOOHISSSS*) but it’s true. I adore it and all its flaws, but it’s true.

Also – I HAVEN’T READ GAYLE FORMAN EITHER!!! <333 I have IF I STAY, signed, tho – so that'll probably happen later this year or early next.

I will end by addressing the series I *MIGHT* actually disown you over – The Lunar Chronicles, Throne of Glass, and the Grisha trilogy. READ. THEM. OMG. JUST. *falls over* *drags self toward you* reeeeaaaddd themmmmmmmm

  9. Oh my goodness, I think I am just as bad! Of the 14 series/standalones you’ve mentioned, I’ve only read 4 (The Lunar Chronicles, The Hunger Games, Twilight, and Fangirl). And to top it all off, I haven’t even read Harry Potter. *hides* So I feel better, that I’m not the only one who hasn’t read these! 😉

  10. I haven’t read Anna either! I’d shame you for not reading Twilight, one of the biggest hyped up books in YA, but I haven’t read Harry Potter so I can’t say anything haha. Cinder, Incarnate, and If I Stay were pretty good; I loved Defiance and Everneath, and HATED Sweet Evil (actually, hated isn’t even a strong enough word). I didn’t like Shadow and Bone and I liked the sequel even less >.< Crown of Midnight was freaking awesome, but Heir of Fire dragged a LOT. I struggled my ass off for the entire first half of the book (and the damn thing is like, 600 pages long), but the last half was amazing! I need to read something by Rainbow. I've been wanting to pick Fangirl up for a long time but I'm not sure if it will be my cup of tea…

And SHAME ON YOU for not reading the rest of the Hunger Games series! Catching Fire is my favorite book of the trilogy 😀
