Stop & Chat

Happy Sunday lovelies! Today’s Stop & Chat was sparked by something I do all the time but never noticed until about 2 weeks ago. You see I’ve been in a YA slump. I’m just burnt out from the category as a whole and really have been looking at more NA/PNR/Adult Romance books. I’m not giving up on YA all together but mama needs a break! Anyway, I did a goodreads search for PNR, picked a list, looked at some of the books I already own but haven’t read, and went straight to see if Jessi from Novel Heartbeat had read it and or loved it. Now don’t get me wrong, I usually scroll and see if any of my friends have liked (or hated) a book on goodreads but only Jessi’s rating can determine if I’ll read the book or no. Which is why today’s topic is all about

BOOK TWINS!!!

You see it NEVER fails. I always have “some” friends who loved a book I hated or hated a book I loved but I can always count on Jessi to push me in the right direction when it comes to grabbing a book. And just to prove my point I took a few screen shots of some of the our books and ratings:

And these are just some of the many books we both liked! Of course there are some I loved and she was just eh about

And some I HATED and she loved

But the fact remains I inexplicably trust her judgement, and I know where to go first about a book I’m on the fence about. Which brings me to todays question! Do you have a bookish twin? What are some of your favorite books you have in common? Share them in the comments below!!

  1. Yeah, Britter and I are pretty much like that. In fact our friendship started on the Splintered fanclub boards on Goodreads. We are always recommending books to each other. After ARC August ends I am starting the Throne of Glass series on her recommendation, and she is going to read the Across the Universe books on mine. Neither one of us are that into romance, so it works out well. I have never compared books with her on GR; I will have to do that because I am curious now. The only books I know we totally disagreed on were Twilight and City of Bones. I loathed those books and DNFed both of them, never reading the series.

  2. I had a book twin (or two or three) in high school back when I was mostly friends with avid readers who read the same genre as me. Unfortunately, throughout college I was friends with people who didn’t quite align with my tastes in books (we usually disagreed on books I disliked, but they were generally WAY quicker to put a book on the hate it shelf than myself). And most of the people I spend a lot of time with now don’t even read. Online I’ve found that several blogs I follow have different preferences than myself for one reason or another, and I haven’t quite found the perfect match again yet. I should continue my search for the perfect book twin. 🙂

  3. DAWWWW YOU *blushes* I trust your judgement as well! I find myself creeping your blog or Goodreads frequently when I don’t know whether or not to read something (like just today, I was trying to find out if you read Vault of Dreamers because I want to know if it’s worth it to continue or if I should just DNF it)!

  4. I don’t think I have any book twins. I have people I might look to when I’m looking for a particular kind of book, but since I read a little bit of everything, the chances of someone else’s tastes matching up with mine (even when they also read a little bit of everything) are just pretty slim. There are always enough of those conflicting ratings to weigh against the ones where we match up.

  5. I have one book twin – Nara from Looking for the Panacea. I trust a lot of other peoples’ opinions, but whatever Nara says is basically law because she’s never steered me wrong before 😛 Just last week I finally read Half Bad, after dragging my feet, only because she loved it so much, and then I was BLOWN AWAY and now I’m freaking out until we both get the sequel next year.
