one year blogoversary

Welcome to my blogoversary celebration! For the next ELEVEN days, I’ll be sharing guest posts with a huge giveaway on the last day after a post shared by me. Keep track of all the posts in order to enter the huge giveaway at the end!

We have Giselle from Book Nerd Canada sharing how she started blogging!

The reason I started blogging was because when I used to work at a Canadian teen magazine, the editor told me to write a book review on Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. I read it, loved it and wrote the review for the site. Then I posted it on Chapters.ca and realized people found my review helpful. I then Googled book reviews and found GoodReads where I then found some person’s account. They had a link and it took me to their book blog. That’s when I knew there was this huge community of people talking and loving books.

After that, I was hooked and decided to open my own blog. I brain stormed with a couple of friends and one simply said, “Book Nerd.” That’s how my blog was born and I’ve been loving it ever since.

Blogging has definitely changed my perspective on how I read. I no longer have no one to talk to about books because I have so many people around the world that I can talk to. Not only does book blogging help make friends but it also helps support the book publishing industry. If we want more books to be published, there needs to be a demand and we as book bloggers enable it. I know I can’t go a week without stepping into a book store just to check out the new releases.

Reading is universal and so much fun. Book blogging is just another extension for this wonderful hobby we all love.

Thanks so much for sharing, Giselle! I definitely agree with how blogging/reading changes our perceptions, it’s so true!

For all the readers, stay tuned for another guest post tomorrow!
