Growing up on Forge’s streets has taught Kyra how to stretch a coin. And when that’s not enough, her uncanny ability to scale walls and bypass guards helps her take what she needs.

But when the leader of the Assassins Guild offers Kyra a lucrative job, she hesitates. She knows how to get by on her own, and she’s not sure she wants to play by his rules. But he’s persistent—and darkly attractive—and Kyra can’t quite resist his pull.

Tristam of Brancel is a young Palace knight on a mission. After his best friend is brutally murdered by Demon Riders, a clan of vicious warriors who ride bloodthirsty wildcats, Tristam vows to take them down. But as his investigation deepens, he finds his efforts thwarted by a talented thief, one who sneaks past Palace defenses with uncanny ease.

When a fateful raid throws Kyra and Tristam together, the two enemies realize that their best chance at survival—and vengeance—might be to join forces. And as their loyalties are tested to the breaking point, they learn a startling secret about Kyra’s past that threatens to reshape both their lives.

Funny story, I didn’t plan on reading The Midnight Thief so early. And by early I mean in May (with it being released in July and all that jazz) but my “lovely” friends Crystal and Jenna basically MADE ME! And you know what? After all their taunting and pushing and talk about the book I picked it up, read it and felt……. well I felt…. hmm I can’t find the right word. In fact I think the only way to properly review Midnight Thief is through gifs!

So upon starting Midnight Thief I felt:

Loki Uncontrollably excited

It could have been because the very first sentence was “This job could kill her”. It could have been because after the first chapter I realized I had already fallen head over hells in love with Kyra (our MC).

Then THINGS started to happen, and the plot began to unfold and I learned THINGS about Kyra! Like the kind of person she is (a thief with a heart of gold?!), how loyal she was to her friends, and how determined she was to “fix” the mistakes she made along the way. So basically I was all…

Excited Tay Tay

But then things began to shift. The world began to come into a clear focus and all the breadcrumbs I had ignored before began to form this beautiful picture with plot twist I guessed but was actually pretty wrong about. In fact, I want to give Blackburne some mad props for not only fooling me but for wrapping me up so completely in her story I couldn’t see beyond the first page. Between the world building (AH-MAZING) character development (MIND BLOWING) and plot (UNBELIEVABLE) I do believe I’ve found  my favorite book of 2014. And considering I’ve read some pretty AWESOME books so far this year that’s saying something. It kind of annoys me I can’t tell you guys more about the book without spoilers so just trust me when I say…

Kelly Clarkson Amazing

So go pre-order it! But not from Amazon because blah to them! 😉
