May 10, 2014 Features & Spotlights 5

random updates

So this is a spontaneous post but I might make it a feature andwho knows? I used to do weekly recaps on my old blog and I miss it! I loved sharing my week with all of my readers and I want to do that again. This is totally random and I am extremely bored so let’s see what happens.

My week was pretty busy, mostly just excitement for BookCon and meeting Octavia! When I’m in New York, I’ll also be attending The Kids Author Carnival and The Book Blogger Picnic, I can’t wait! I’m also planning some super secret things for my 1 year blogoversary which is coming up on the 31st, I still can’t believe it! Speaking of BEA/BookCon, my business cards arrived this week and they turned out beautiful! I’m actually so proud of the design and I love how well they match the blog. In my opinion, they look simple yet unique, if that makes sense. I’ve also been buying a lot of new releases over the past couple of weeks which has seriously hurt my bookshelves. I had about 50 books that I own and need to read but I’m trying to get it down to forty before my NYC trip. I’m at about 44 books right now which is great but I’ve been reading my newer purchases, not the books that I’ve bought and neglected for a while.

This week, I read four books, which are all the books I’ve bought in the past. They are:

Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins ★★★★★
The One by Kiera Cass unrated
Savage Drift by Emmy Laybourne ★★★★★
Better Off Friends by Elizabeth Eulberg ★★★★★

It was a pretty good week for me in terms of reading! I don’t know if I’ll be reviewing any or all of those books but I enjoyed them all! I still haven’t rated The One because I am so conflicted. Rebel Belle was glorious and all I can say is that Rachel Hawkins is a queen. Savage Drift was just EPIC! It made me laugh, tear up and squeal-it’s definitely one of my favourite series. Better Off Friends was a light and awesome read, it was just so adorable and I highly recommend it! Next, I’m currently reading The Knife of Never Letting Go and then I’m tackling Grave Mercy, The Archived and Noggin-I can’t wait!

This week, I’ve been watching Bones and catching up on some of my regular TV shows. I’m on season 5 of Bones and I seriously love it! I’m also looking forward to the finale for Once Upon a Time and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D! In terms of music, the playlist below has some of the songs that I’ve been listening to for the past week.

And that’s it! That was basically my week and I honestly had a lot of fun writing this post. I’m thinking of maybe making it a regular thing, what do you guys think?

Yay, I’m glad you liked Rebel Belle since I’ll be reading it for RDR virtual book club soon. Everyone seems to be raving about Better Off Friends, guess I should buy it soon hmm?

I just listened to One Night Town for the first time ever and whoa, it is awesome! I’m surprised I haven’t listen to any Ingrid Michaelson music up until now. Home sounds like it could’ve been sung by Ellie Goulding.

West Coast is such a great song! Marina and the Diamonds! Man, I love her and her music. And of course, Twin Forks are too good. Also, I cannot wait for Coldplay’s album to release! =D

I love reading Weekly Recaps so I’d love to see this more often!
Lovely business cards also! I think they match the blog really well too.
Can’t wait to see what you think of The Knife of Never Letting Go because I really, really enjoyed that book!
And funny story about Twin Forks. I saw an advertisement for their album/EP (forget which it was) and immediately thought of you & Jamie because I know you guys absolutely love them!
Okay yeah, it wasn’t really that funny…
But anyway, have a great week!
