Confession Time

Happy Monday you beautiful people you! If you follow me on twitter then on Saturday when I was at work you probably saw my tweet about “unplugging” for the weekend and just doing some “pressure free” reading. It turns out not only did I REALLY need this but it was probably the best idea I’ve had in a very long time.

Lately I’ve put so much pressure on keeping the blog perfect (with Shelly’s help that hasn’t been hard actually), keeping the virtual book club up and running and fun, and keeping up with the series and ARC April challenges I’ve organized I’ve been feeling down about my lack of reading. I’ve read a total of 8 books for the year as of April 19th. An all time low and somewhat embarrassing reality for me. I go to the library and check out all these epic sounding books and I never get to them because I put so much pressure on myself that by time I crack the book open I’m immediately drained of all energy and just want to lounge in bed. So I took my weekend (Sun-Tues morning) and I read. Of course with it being Easter weekend I didn’t read as much as I wanted to but I READ! And I enjoyed it! There was no constant thinking of “how am I going to articulate this in my review?!” or will other people like this review since the book is a different genre/a little older? I just read what I wanted to read and it was bliss! And to be perfectly honet I may try and squeeze in one more book before I head back to work tomorrow morning. 😉

But I didn’t stop at just reading I actually REVIEWED them too! In 2 days I finished Dorothy Must Die (452 pages) and Beautiful Player (432 pages)  AND I reviewed them as well as Wait For You! A book I finished over a week ago and just haven’t felt like reviewing.

And this brings me to the reason behind this post. I’m going to do it again! At least once a month I’m going to do a “weekend unplugged” event and I’m inviting you to join me. There won’t be any formal sign ups, or post needed. Just “unplug” (for me this was NO twitter/instagram/FaceBook/emails) during that weekend and just give yourself some time to enjoy reading. I’m going to aim to do it again this upcoming weekend but then I probably won’t do another one till mid/end of May.

So who else is up for the challenge? Leave your thoughts and suggestions below!
