So the other day I was trolling around twitter when I saw a tweet from my good friend Danielle of Consuming Worlds. The tweet was linked to a post that contained 22 non-bookish facts about Danielle, and it really made me want to do the same. So, here are:

20 Facts About Me!

1. I LOVE cartoons. Spongebob, Fairly Oddparents, The Simpsons, Family Guy, The Jetsons. I just love cartoons.

2. I was a pre-med major my first year of college….but I’m horrified of needles and don’t like the sight of blood. (Yes, I know that could have been a problem)

3. I went to a performing arts school from 1st-10th grade.

4. I was trained in classical music and played the flute for 12 years. (I’m actually really good.)

5. From the time I was 6 to 17 we moved to 10 different houses…one was right next door to the other. (My mom is a gypsy!)

6. Β My first college party I accidentally pushed a boy through a window….a CLOSED window… (I don’t like to revisit that incident O_O)

7. Β My dad’s birthday is on Christmas, and I always get him 2 presents since he only got one as a kid.

8. I was (falsely) accused of “inciting a riot” in 10 grade and was expelled from school. (In my defense it wasn’t a riot! Just a small fight that got out of control.)

9. When I was a kid I wanted to write greeting cards when I grew up.

10. I took ballet for 5 years. (I can no longer touch my toes)

11. I use to WALK 6 miles to my high school, and 6 miles back. All in about an hour each way. (I can walk a quarter of a mile in 30minutes today O_O)

12. It took 5 minutes to pick Ayanna’s name. (We used one of those name sites, got overwhelmed and just picked Ayanna. I regret nothing!)

13. I was notoriously picked on as a kid. This resulted in me fighting….a lot.

14. By 6th grade I was reading on an 11th grade level. (Of course I was teased for being a bookworm.)

15. In high school I charged kids 30 bucks for projects and papers. (It was good money)

16. I didn’t get my driver’s license until I was 20….that of course does not mean I did not drive before I was 20.

17. I can’t bake. I’m learning, but I’m really not that good at it yet.

18. My favorite feeling in the entire world is having someone else wash my hair.

19. It is impossible for me to sleep past 8 am. Seriously, if I go to bed at 6, I wake up a 8….it’s scary… and wrong.

20. I’m 5’3″, and am the tallest person in my family (on my mom’s side).

  1. YAY for bookworms and precocious readers! My dad taught me how to read before they did in school cause he was tired of reading the same thing over and over to me!

  2. I loved reading about you! Great post. It’s incredible how much we don’t know about each other though we talk each day. It’s also very brave to post personal stuff. I’m not sure I’m that brave. Thank you go sharing!!

  4. I LOVE the Simpsons! Somehow it feels so… apart… from other animated shows. I never really considered it a cartoon, but I guess it is, eh? Do you like Futurama?! I would love to hear more about your experiences attending a performing arts school! I’ve never met anyone who has attended one, but I’ve always been so curious about them.

I haven’t had someone else wash my hair often, but the few times that I’ve had it done at the beauty shop? Just such a lovely feeling (you know, when she’s not use her fingernails to exfloiate my scalp! -_-).

What a fun post, Octavia! I really enjoyed getting to learn more about you. πŸ™‚

  5. I use to watch Futurama ALL THE TIME! I had a soft spot for Fry even though he’s a complete idiot. πŸ™‚ And the school was pretty much exactly what you think. We had normal classes but we also had classes the concentrated on your major (photography, dance, vocal music, instrumental music, art and drama) and that’s where we honed our skills. It was grueling and we had private lessons and we went all over to perform. Well as “all over” as a public school can go lol. Even though you had to audition, and be accepted in the school was still publicly funded. It was an absolutely fantastic experience I took for granted as a kid. πŸ™‚

  6. Man, that is so awesome! I wish I could have gone to a school like that. If I had, I bet I would be doing art for money right now instead of science stuff! (I love both though, so it’s not that tragic, lol.)

I’m so impressed with people who have played instruments for years and are good at it. My husband plays violin and I just freaking love it. I’ve wanted to play *something* since I was a kid, but it just didn’t happen. I did piano for like 3 months before my dad quit teaching me. And I got a guitar for Christmas 12 years ago and STILL haven’t learned (although I did go to a couple lessons before I realized I didn’t have time for it). Sigh! Anyway. What I’m trying to say is: you’re pretty awesome. πŸ™‚

  7. LOL I’m 5’4″ and the tallest woman in my family (both sides). And my dad’s birthday is the day after Christmas (I always get him two presents too!). LOVE to bake though, sometimes it’s the only thing that keeps me sane πŸ˜‰
What an interesting and fun post idea. May have to steal πŸ™‚

  8. Ah we are too similar on some of these, lol. I adore cartoons and my parents think I’m goofy for having a Spongebob comforter until I was 20…even now I have a few Powerpuff Girl wall stickers. I charged people for school supplies in elementary school and candy in middle school, because my mom goes crazy on office supplies and we always had a ton…it was definitely good money, lol. I still don’t drive, which is irritating but I have serious anxiety issues that I kind of repress and when I sit in a driver’s seat it ALL comes out.

I wish we had performing arts schools here that didn’t cost a first born child. I would have loved it. I played Clarinet in middle school and I was really good, but I didn’t get along with the cigar/coffee addict that was my band teacher and I quit.

I may have to do this on one of my blank days. It definitely seems like fun.
