Now that I’ve convinced you of the awesome, on to todays post!

Hmmm I guess this is when I introduce myself…which is scary..

But you won’t bite, or judge me right? Right.

Well, I’m Octavia, book sniffer, cover stroker, chocolate junkie and the genius behind Read. Sleep. Repeat.! I’m a huge lover of read-a-thons and read-a-longs so when my lovely friend Meagan came up with this idea I did the most awkward happy dance ever and immediately volunteered to help any way I could. I’m also a Grease junkie (it’s my all time favorite movie!) and I’m horrified of nature….bugs are scary!

Anywho this week I have some pretty big goals to complete! I want to participate in ALL of the the participation post, at least 4 of the challenge post, and I want to get through 5 6 books! Go big or go home right? The books I want to complete are:

Brownies and BroomsticsEASY BAKE COVEN

Katie Lightfoot’s tired of loafing around as the assistant manager of an Ohio bakery. So when her aunt Lucy and uncle Ben open a bakery in Savannah’s quaint downtown district and ask Katie to join them, she enthusiastically agrees.

While working at the Honeybee Bakery—named after Lucy’s cat—Katie notices that her aunt is adding mysterious herbs to her recipes. Turns out these herbal enhancements aren’t just tasty—Aunt Lucy is a witch and her recipes are actually spells!

When a curmudgeonly customer is murdered outside the Honeybee Bakery, Uncle Ben becomes the prime suspect. With the help of handsome journalist Steve Dawes, charming firefighter Declan McCarthy, and a few spells, Katie and Aunt Lucy stir up some toil and trouble to clear Ben’s name and find the real killer..

Steelheart Ten years ago, Calamity came. It was a burst in the sky that gave ordinary men and women extraordinary powers. The awed public started calling them Epics.

But Epics are no friend of man. With incredible gifts came the desire to rule. And to rule man you must crush his wills.

Nobody fights the Epics… nobody but the Reckoners. A shadowy group of ordinary humans, they spend their lives studying Epics, finding their weaknesses, and then assassinating them.

And David wants in. He wants Steelheart—the Epic who is said to be invincible. The Epic who killed David’s father. For years, like the Reckoners, David’s been studying, and planning—and he has something they need. Not an object, but an experience.

He’s seen Steelheart bleed. And he wants revenge.

*An ARC of Steelheart will be in one of the Summer Lovin’ grand prize packs!*

Beautiful Stranger

A charming British Playboy. A girl determined to finally live. And a secret liaison revealed in all too vivid color. Book two in the NYT Bestselling series.

Escaping a cheating ex, finance whiz Sara Dillon’s moved to New York City and is looking for excitement without a lot of strings attached. So meeting the irresistible, sexy Brit at a dance club should have meant nothing more than a night’s fun. But the manner–and speed–with which he melts her inhibitions turns him from a one-time hookup and into her Beautiful Stranger.

The whole city knows Max Stella loves women, not that he’s ever found one he particularly wants to keep around. Despite pulling in plenty with his Wall Street bad boy charm, it’s not until Sara–and the wild photos she lets him take of her–that he starts wondering if there’s someone for him outside of the bedroom.

Hooking up in places where anybody could catch them, the only thing scarier for Sara than getting caught in public is having Max get too close in private.

There’s something achingly familiar about Daniel Grigori.

Mysterious and aloof, he captures Luce Price’s attention from the moment she sees him on her first day at the Sword & Cross boarding school in sultry Savannah. He’s the one bright spot in a place where cell phones are forbidden, the other students are all screw-ups, and security cameras watch every move.

Even Daniel wants nothing to do with Luce – he goes out of his way to make that very clear. But she can’t let it go. Drawn to him like a moth to a flame, Luce has to find out what Daniel is so desperate to keep secret…even if it kills her.

Dangerously exciting and darkly romantic, FALLEN is a page-turning thriller and the ultimate love story.

DivergentIn Beatrice Prior’s dystopian Chicago world, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue–Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is–she can’t have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles alongside her fellow initiates to live out the choice they have made. Together they must undergo extreme physical tests of endurance and intense psychological simulations, some with devastating consequences. As initiation transforms them all, Tris must determine who her friends really are–and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes exasperating boy fits into the life she’s chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she’s kept hidden from everyone because she’s been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers unrest and growing conflict that threaten to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves . . . or it might destroy her.

The Demon Trapper's Daughter

Demon Trapper Riley Blackthorne just needs a chance to prove herself—and that’s exactly what Lucifer is counting on…

It’s the year 2018, and with human society seriously disrupted by the economic upheavals of the previous decade, Lucifer has increased the number of demons in all major cities. Atlanta is no exception. Fortunately, humans are protected by Demon Trappers, who work to keep homes and streets safe from the things that go bump in the night. Seventeen-year-old Riley, only daughter of legendary Demon Trapper Paul Blackthorne, has always dreamed of following in her father’s footsteps. When she’s not keeping up with her homework or trying to manage her growing attraction to fellow Trapper apprentice, Simon, Riley’s out saving citizens from Grade One Hellspawn. Business as usual, really, for a demon-trapping teen. When a Grade Five Geo-Fiend crashes Riley’s routine assignment at a library, jeopardizing her life and her chosen livelihood, she realizes that she’s caught in the middle of a battle between Heaven and Hell.

And if some how a miracle happens and I finish these 5 6 with time to spare I’ll go on to read:

Mark of the Witch Spider's Bite Blush Plus One Ten Tiny Breaths

This awesome challenge post is hosted by fellow Pink Lady Tamara of Shelf Addiction!

So without further ado my teaser from my 1st Summer Lovin’ read…..

Brownies and Broomstics

“So you’re the one who killed my aunt.” He spit the words out.

Ben flinched. The color draining from his face.

Enough. I stepped forward…..

  1. You got some awesome books on your readathon tbr. I personally love Divergent. And I just listened to Beautiful Stranger aduiobook and it was pretty good. I had listened to the Fallen audiobook a few years ago and hated it. Not sure if it was the terrible narrator or what. I’m interested to see how you like it. Good luck with your goals.

  2. Everyone loves Divergent! I’m starting to worry if I’m going to be the black sheep on it. 🙁
I’m really excited to read Beautiful Stranger, but not so much for Fallen. But I’ll read them and either throw things or swoon. 🙂

    Thanks for the luck!

  3. Definitely a great list of books! I’ve read Divergent which I really enjoyed and I try listening to Fallen and that just didn’t work out, I might try reading it later. I’m definitely interested in seeing what you think of Steelheart.

Thanks for co-hosting! This seems like it’s going to be a fun event.

  4. I’m really trying to go into Fallen with a open mind but it’s so hard! The reviews are so bad! But maybe Divergent or Steelheart will be able to balance out any issues I have with Fallen?

I hope you have fun with Summer Lovin’ and read ALL the books! 😀

  5. Hello 🙂

I read Divergent a while back and gave it 5 hearts. Meaning I thought it was awesome. 😀 Fallen wasn’t my cup of tea, but your mileage may vary. 🙂 As for your extra books, the one that looks the most interesting is Ten Tiny Breaths. Oh! And you just made me want to check out The Demon Trapper’s Daughter. I’m getting ready to do an Amazon spree and that sounds good. 🙂

Happy reading! Have a great week. 🙂

  6. Yay to Amazon binges!!

I’m really excited to read Divergent since it’s been the talk of the town FOREVER! And I’m trying to go into Fallen with a open mind, but the reviews are so not good! Maybe one of my other books will balance it out for me.

  7. I feel like I’m going to end up being the last one to read Divergent. 😛 I’ve heard really good things and the story does interest me, but I can never seem to get my hands on it! Haha, I suppose I’ll have to look harder. I’m quite fascinated by bugs, the poor little things. Except when a poisonous spider gets too close to me or the mosquitoes decide to feast. THEN it’s go time! 😛

    Happy reading! 😀

  8. LOL you won’t be the very last one! More like 2nd to last to read it! 😉 And check out free shipping and books cost 2-4 bucks and their selection is phenomenal! It’s AMAZING!

  9. Wow. Great list of books!
Divergent seems to be on a lot of TBR lists for the read-a-thon. It’s awesome though, so I hope you get to read it and enjoy it 🙂
The Demon Trappers Daughter is also really good. As is Fallen 🙂
Good luck with your goals! I hope you manage to read all 6 books!

  10. You’re going to LOVE Divergent! It was pretty great! 🙂 Awesome tidbit! I’ve got to add this book to my TBR list!

  11. I read Divergent last week, having put it off for a couple of years because I was worried about it not living up to all the hype… and I am so glad that I made the effort to read it! It was such a fantastic read, and Tris is such a strong female role model (which is something I think is lacking in a lot of YA fiction). I really hope you enjoy it, and good luck with meeting all of your other goals for the week!

  12. That’s exactly why I haven’t read it yet! It’s gotten such amazing reviews I’m scared of being the black sheep! But I do love a strong female in any book so I may worry a little less now. 😉

  13. Loving your use of .gifs, Awkward and Despicable Me? YES PLEASE.

I’ve got a Divergent box set on my TBR pile and ahhh I really want to read it to see what it’s all about. So frustrating it’s taking ages to tackle my TBR pile haha, hopefully the read-a-thon can help me finish my library books hehe so I can move onto my TBR 😛

    Good luck Octavia!

  14. Ohh I want a box set!!

And I totally know what you mean when it comes to the TBR pile! Every time I make it through one book, six more take it’s place! And don’t even get me started on the library! But err thanks for dropping by and listening to me rant!

  15. Why is The Elite not on your list? That’s such amazing read-a-thon material!! (*cough* I really do like to see what you think of it, but I’m afraid you might kill yourself and that will be messy and uncool so yeah. Better not.) See, I don’t even need an excuse to go into complete ramble mode. ANYWAY. Excited for you to read Divergent, which I loved! I also think bugs are scary. There was a spider somewhere here just now but IT DISAPPEARED and I’m still freaking out. Not cool. This rambling message came to you from the Netherlands. I swear I’m not crazy.
Judith recently posted…Review: The Lost GirlMy Profile

  16. For you and no one else I shall go to the library and pick up The Elite. And I will not hurt myself or anyone else (maybe). But I shall finish the book and make a vlog about it!

Now that I’ve ensured some kind of torture…I’m so excited for Divergent!!!

I went out into the garage this morning to spray for bugs and a giant pregnant spider came out of NOWHERE! So I drowned it in bug spray but it kept moving so I got closer to spray it and a FROG jumped out of NOWHERE and made me pee my pants! And now I have no idea where the frog OR the spider is! I’m convinced their both plotting my demise.

  18. Ambitious? ME?!? Nope I just kept messing stuff up, got bored of messing it up and left it like this lol. I’m pretty sure my short attention span will be the death of me….or the reason I eventually learn HTML. 😀

  19. Aslkfjalsdfj, YOU KNOW HOW I FEEL ABOUT STEELHEART. Gah, it’s killing me that you’re reading it this week! haha XD Super excited for you to read Divergent though, I loved that book.

Happy Summer Lovin’! And good luck on your goals! 😀

  21. I am scared of bugs too! And I live in the south where they grow as big as racoons. Eek!
I want to read Brownies and Broomsticks and look forward to seeing what you think of it. I loved Divergent! Good luck with your goals.

  22. YES! I just moved to GA and the bugs are HUGE and they all fly! Which is just evil!!

Brownies and Broomsticks is my 1 read of the read-a-thon and is really cute so far. You’ll have to let me know what you think of it when/if you read it. 🙂
