Final Day of Summer Lovin’

Posted July 7, 2013 by Octavia in Challenges / 0 Comments

Well guy’s I can’t believe it’s almost over! I’ve had so much fun this week with you all, and if I was mushy I would probably shed a tear. But I’m a big girl and as my 4 year old says “big girls don’t cry mommy they rock!” so here is my last Summer Lovin’ post.

List your accomplishments, big and small.
Did you make some new friends? Call them out.
Then hop around and congratulate the other participants on their successes.

Well I failed my book reading goal (6 books!) but I did read a little:

Brownies and Broomstics

I finished, and really liked this little one here! I’m not usually into mysteries but it was a fun, light, and good read. Yes I did review it and that post will be up this week!

As of right this second I haven’t finished this one, but I’m super close so I will say 4 quick things about this “book”.

  1. It’s beyond anything I’ve read and I’m so happy I have it!
  2. The lucky grand prize winner that gets this must email/tweet/mail pigeon me with reading updates.
  3. No review I write will ever give it justice.
  4. I must now go and buy ALL the Brandon Sanderson books!

Game of Thrones

So this was actually not a part of the read-a-thon but I want to send a special thanks to my friends Scott and Vanessa who are reading this monster with me! Even though I’ve fallen behind and have to re-read to understand things these two have been nothing but sweet about it all and for that I say thank you a million times.

As of right this second I’ve made it to page 141 and we are scheduled to finish this book in about a week….maybe?….fingers crossed!

I am really proud, not only as a Summer Lovin’ host but as a participant to say that I have participated in every single participation post and every single challenge! And no I did not prep! I waited until 12am just like you and got to work (except for my interview with Sarah Fine). So I surpassed my challenge post goals by quite a bit, and for that I do believe a modest pat on my back is in order!

Fabulous

But that aside I have also made some amazing friends, stalked some fantastic blogs, and learned that even when you want to pull your hair out in frustration the Pink Ladies always have my back! So a quick shout out to:

Francine of Bookworm in Boots

Michaniya of Bookmarked For Later

Michelle of In Libris Veritas

Jessica of Literary Etc.

Jackie of No Bent Spines

These five left me constantly doing this towards them:

To every single Summer Lovin’ participant, the ones who conquered their goals, failed miserably, met new people, tweeted once, or mastered every challenge I say:

I love you

And to my fellow Pink Ladies, this has been the most fun, active, hair ripping out experience ever and I can’t thank you enough for letting me help with this amazing event. In the end we did pretty damn good if I do say so myself and I know each of us is the reason this went as well as it did. To you my lovely ladies I say….

They won’t know what hit ’em when Winter Wishes rolls out!
