Stop & Chat Saturday

Stop & Chat is a weekly discussion post here at Read. Sleep. Repeat. where we talk about what ever tickles my fancy!

This week’s Stop & Chat post was inspired by a comment left on my most recent Top Ten Tuesday post. Thank you Susan of Blogging ‘Bout Books!

Re-Reading….Yay? or Nay?

You see for the latest TTT post we picked our own topic, and mine was TT Books I wish I could Read for the First Time Again. You know that rush, and the feels you get when you read a awesome book for the first time? I picked books that made me want to relive that experience again, because re-reading (while still fun) just doesn’t have the same effects as a first time read. Cue Susan! She pointed out that she pretty much never re-reads because that “first time effect” is gone. And of course at first I was like:

Re-reading is one of my favorite blogger stress relievers! But then I actually got to thinking about how little re-reading I’ve been able to do lately and I was like this:

DougI’ve had a really hectic schedule lately and I realized that re-reading just hasn’t been an option for me. But it also got me thinking about your re-reading habits.

Personally, nothing is more comforting than curling up with one of my favorite books and reliving the adventure, the drama, the suspense, the heartbreak and of course the badassery! But it’s not just a comfort for me. Re-reading is a great way to get out of a book slump, and can cure almost any book hangover. It’s also a great way for me to wind down after working so hard to get through review copies, scheduling, and any other blogger stress I come across, because it’s a 100% NO PRESSURE read! I don’t have to write a review, I don’t have to finish it at warp speed, I don’t have to take notes or worry about how to “properly articulate” my feels! I just read it! And for me that is bliss!

So what about you? Do you re-read? Why or why not? Link back to your Stop & Chat post!
